2026 signifies the launch of our first hall of fame, where we would like to honour our inaugural group.<ul><li>Michael Lavery</li><li>Jack Lees</li><li>Ben (Benji) Muir</li><li>Chris Mowat</li><li>Ewan Duff</li></ul>While many have given their all to the club, this group represent the first we would like to add based on their dedication on and off court.We will review this annually with members and consider all feedback from the club's rich history.

The club holds Club South Lanarkshire accreditation based on the efforts of the club community.More recently with the growth of student sports we have been supported by students from Glasgow universities but also as far as Stirling university.Our current club sponsors are Unsociable and Turnkey who have kindly provided strips and their help as the men's team won the league last season.We are on the lookout for more support so if you can help in any way please contact the club secretary.<h4>Our history</h4>Handball in East Kilbride dates back to the 1970s.Local players who picked up the sport were involved in some of the earliest official games played in the UK.To mention some of the club's achievements:Senior ladies:<ul><li>British champions 1974/75.</li><li>Scottish Champions 1973/74, 1974/75, 1975/76, 1976/77, 1977/78</li></ul>Senior men:<ul><li>British champions 1982/83.</li><li>Scottish champions 1973/74, 1974/75, 1975/76, 1976/77, 1977/78, 1978/79, 1982/83, 1983/84, 2024/25.</li></ul>Given the history, our community is a mix of families and new friends sharing the fun, competitive love of the sport together.<h3></h3><h3></h3>

Wednesday 5 - 7PM John Wright Sports Centre, East Kilbride, G74 3EU.Our summer camp is planned 20 July - 15 August 9am-12pm at St Kenneth's primary school. For more details please contact the club.Engage your kids in fun and skill-building handball sessions designed for all skill levels, promoting teamwork and fitness.

Our very own superhero.Known to many in East Kilbride as the taxi driver who would chat handball to anyone, Michael's promotion of the sport only scratched the surface of his impact.A supremely talented all-round player, Michael represented Scotland, Great Britain and East Kilbride and could just as easily score from nothing as flatten an opponent in defence.He was also keen to bring others on that journey, including his own children, and helped steer the club through coaching the game in schools.That development of the sport not only helped it grow nationally but also gave the club the best talent it has seen to date, including Jack, Chris, Benji and Ewan.The club retired the number 10 to honour Michael's dedication.Michael’s legacy is the club as it stands. What he has taught us extends past words, but it is to continue the sport within East Kilbride as far as we can take it. He brought many great memories for people and families, and we hope that we can continue that.

Jack has, from a very early age, been a standout handball player.His natural athleticism, coupled with a passion to win, made him a challenging opponent.His chat at times also made him a challenge for opponents, as his mischievous side tested rivals and sometimes even teammates to the brink.Keeping with the sport despite opportunities from other sports, he kept getting better and brought some others on a journey with him to national and international level.Continuing the work of the club as a coach, his passion remains, as does his cheeky personality.Jack is a leader, dependable, skilled, and we wouldn't have him any other way.Jack’s legacy will be to foster coaches who are equipped to take people on a journey and have a desire to give something back

Passion

Communication is a difficult skill to master.Something even from an early age, playing in school, Benji was honing.His skills on the court were matched with an ability to lift others, lead by example and work through problems with the team.Progressing through youth, senior and national levels, he has demonstrated his maturity and helped inspire others.Following Michael's retirement, he stepped into the role of chairperson for the club and, calmly and steadily, he offered his thoughts to help the club.Benji has sadly moved on through work opportunities, but did so, motivating the club on and off the court. We all wish him every success.Benji’s legacy will be that we talk to each other and our networks even through the difficult choices.

Motivation

Chris is one of those handball players who sees things differently and always has.Chris loved to score goals; even amongst some of the best talent, he would try things that others didn't.Spurred on by the talent and sessions that Michael held for his age group, he excelled for school and club.His understanding of the game grew, and he stepped in to referee games.As a senior, Chris has continued to challenge goalkeepers and defences, and his pursuit of goals hasn't faded.Chris and his family have been long-standing supporters who have helped in many areas, including Chris being MC at fundraisers.Chris’s legacy will be to nurture through coaching those players who are creative. Giving them a chance to try things and have fun doing so.

Vision

Ewan always brought energy to his handball.His family values of hard work and dedication saw him take on many arduous events with determination.In handball, Ewan brought his fitness and commitment to push the team further, supporting teammates when fatigue had set in.It was also evident from Ewan how much he cared for others in his actions when times were hard. Often Ewan would be found trying to support the club in the tasks needed to keep it running.Ewan’s legacy after he moved away was that our commitment to all members is to enjoy their time at the club. We support each other in progression, as the club is for all members, including the committee.
